Christian Karma?

Matthew 18:21-35
Today's discussion question: How can pride and greed keep us from being like Jesus?

An example for the discussion question comes directly from the reading.  The first servant's greed robs him of compassion for the second servant. He views this world as holding limited resources for which he must fight. His pride blinds him to the injustice he enacts.  He likely feels justified in his insistence because only his rights come under consideration.  But let's be careful about how we read the parable.

Jesus Father lives in a world of plenty.  His resources allow for the cancellation of enormous debts.  And one who gives up his rights, finds respect in the Kingdom of Heaven.  However, Jesus concludes with a warning to his listeners.  God will revoke His cancellation of our debt if we choose NOT to  forgive/cancel the debts of others.  This theme began way back in chapter six when Jesus taught his disciples to pray.  (Matthew 6:9-15)

Is this like Christian Karma?  Forgive and you will be forgiven.  Punish your debtors and God will punish you.  If you insist on your rights, your property, your due payment you risk having your accounts called in to be settled.  Is this teaching of Jesus counter to the capitalism of our culture?
